World Traveler Birthday

I’m seriously in love with the tissue paper technique! I think it worked well for this masculine birthday card!

The base card is Night of Navy cardstock and measures 5” by 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼ ”.  Next cut two pieces of Whisper White that measure 5 ¼” by 4” and you will need one more piece of whisper white that measures 5” by 3 ¾”. Then you will need a couple of pieces of Whisper White scraps.

Let’s start working on that background piece, for this you will need your piece of whisper white cardstock that measures 5” by 3 ¾”.

Here is a quick refresher on this technique in case you missed it in my post from August 30th.
You will use a piece of tissue paper is at least ½” bigger than the cardstock you will be putting in on. Next you will stamp the background image on the tissue paper.

Now you will crumple the tissue paper.  Crumple it tight!  Now just set it aside while you use a glue stick to coat your cardstock completely. Then carefully un-crumple your tissue paper. Don’t smooth it out too much or you will lose all that nice texture!
Next lay your tissue paper on top of your glue covered cardstock.  Now lightly pat down the tissue paper into the glue. I like the crumpled look so I try to not smooth it at all, just pat so that I get a nice crumpled look.

Set it aside and stamp the rest of your pieces.  One of the pieces of the 5 ¼ by 4 inches will go on the inside of the card.  I stamped the Globe from the Traveler Set in the lower corner. Then I centered it on the inside of the card.  I stamped the globe on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then I cut it out with the Deco Labels Framelits.  Now cut out a piece of Night of Navy cardstock using the next larger Deco Framelit.
Stamp the sentiment (I used one from the Wetlands set) on a piece of Whisper white then punch it out with the large oval punch. Punch out a large scallop oval and layer under the sentiment.

Almost done! Now to put it all together, you should already have glued the white piece with the globe on the inside.  On the outside, glue the 2nd piece of white that measures 5 ¼” by 4 to the card.  Attach the tissue paper background with dimensionals.  Then with dimensionals attach the layered globe and the sentiment to the front.
Here’s a list of the supplies I used, just click on the item and it will take you to my page. Don’t forget your basic tool box and tissue paper! Easy Peasy!
